TITLE IX

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 protects students against discrimination, assault, or harassment based on sex.  This includes discrimination based on gender and sexual orientation.

If the sexual assault or sexual harassment is at the hands of a fellow student or school staff, the student is protected whether the assault or harassment occurs on school grounds or off school grounds.  Assault may be rape or unwanted groping or touching.  Harassment may occur not only face to face but it also may occur through social media, texts, computer, or phone.
